About Shawn Barat

A native of Florida, Shawn Barat received his Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Florida. As a dedicated band clinician and certified band adjudicator, Mr. Barat taught bands in public schools and universities in Florida for 25 years, including successful positions at Ocala-Forest High School, Winter Haven High School, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, and F. W. Buchholz High School, as well as serving as an Adjunct Professor of Music at the University of North Florida. All ensembles under Mr. Barat’s instruction consistently received Superior ratings at district and state assessments and were invited to perform on national concert stages, including the Music for All National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis and the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago.
