About Shawn Barat

A native of Florida, Shawn Barat received his Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Florida. With 25 years of teaching experience in Florida public schools and universities — including positions at Ocala Forest High School, Winter Haven High School, Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, and F. W. Buchholz High School, as well as Adjunct Professor of Music at the University of North Florida — Mr. Barat built a record of consistent excellence. All ensembles under his direction received Superior ratings at district and state assessments and were invited to perform on national concert stages, including the Music for All National Concert Band Festival in Indianapolis and the Midwest International Band and Orchestra Clinic in Chicago.

Mr. Barat is now available as a clinician and adjudicator for concert band, jazz band, and marching events throughout Florida and beyond. Whether you're preparing your ensemble for MPA or looking for an experienced set of ears at your festival, he brings the same high standards that defined his 25-year teaching career to every engagement.
